Some tools can be very expensive to buy such as lifting gear, engine cranes, but you have to remember, there is Nothing As Important as Your Own Health And Safety. Lifting an engine yourself is ok for Hercules but any normal person could easily put their back out and be off work sick for weeks. Remember, No work, No Pay, No Kit Car.

Air tools are very popular and very useful but also expensive and you will need a compressor to run them. All air tools have a rating ie: CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) or FAD (Free Air Displacement). This is how much air the tool will need to run constant, or the air tank will run down in pressure and the tool will stop. You will need to buy a compressor that has enough capacity (output) for the tools. Air tools come in many forms, ie: Impact Wrenches, Sanders, Polishers, Nibblers but in reality you can do all these jobs by hand tools without them, though a lot slower process. Paint Spray Guns also run off air, but unless you have good spraying facilities and experience, it is probably a good idea to pay someone else for this work. Spraying needs a good clean area, good lighting, and air. Also modern Paints are very Unfriendly For Breathing. You should have good breathing apparatus to protect you and your lungs. Car Spraying is a job that goes with experience, Put the paint on too dry it will look Orange Peely, and too wet it will Run or Sag, Wasting Good Money on paint and time!

If you are building your own chassis you will need a welder, either a MIG Welder or an ARC Welder. Arc Welder is cheaper but if you can afford a MIG Welder it is much more versatile, especially with thinner metal, although you will need a gas bottle with this welder. Mig welding is more controllable as too much current will burn a hole through the metal or too little current will not penetrate and you will have a weak weld, which can fall apart under load! If you are not an experienced welder, take lessons or get an experienced friend to show you how. Then Practice, Practice, Practice, on scrap metal first. Remember your chassis holds the strength of your car This is a small insight into the huge world of tools. The subject itself could be a whole book. Do your Homework before you buy!
